I loved watching that clip of the South African politician breaking his chair. I lived in S.A for a year and it's such a good example of South African pride! But more ammusingly it is such a good example of how poor their production is! The SABC studios are crap.
I'd watch their breakfast news show every morning and was appalled at how it would cut out mid sentence to go to an add break; a random person would walk accross the studio behind the presenters mid broadcast; the presenters would drop their notes; props would break; sound wouldn't work; lights would cut out...
So it probably wasn't just that the guy was fat that caused the chair to break. And in true S.A. style, as i said, their pride means that they just carry on and pretend it hasn't happened, and pretty much never appologise for the poor production!
Taught me some major appreciation though! I never stopped to think how much money we put into our media in the UK. How wonderful the BBC's for example, production is.
SO S.A.. do their best, but it can be really annoying, and sometimes really funny!
