Twisted Licks celebrates the Last Days of Decadence launch week on Friday October 3rd with a night of dirty electro debauchery, featuring The Young Punx, Alex Egan (Skull Juice), Modernaire, Luca C (Cazals), The XX and Ortzroka.
“Infamous audio terrorists” The Young Punx (Eddy Temple-Morris, XFM) promise to slap the life back into the bare bum cheeks of Shoreditch with a UK showcase of their new DJ/Live act. Fatboy Slim’s a big fan, but don’t let that put you off…File under ‘Wilful Disregard for Genre’. We like Modernaire; “glacial gameboy pop” according to Time Out and we agree; catch their addictive electro-harmonics when they grace the Twisted stage on October 3rd. Easing you in gently to an otherwise raucous evening are the hauntingly beautiful sounds of The XX. South London’s finest will steep Last Days in distilled laid-back new wave pop before we hitch it up a notch or seven.
But it’s not all over after three incredible live bands – we have the stupidly talented, hot young DJ maestro Alex Egan of Skull Juice taking over downstairs after the Young Punx til 2.30am. Also on the decks is Luca C and new favourites Ortzroka. Known to most people as the guitar player from Cazals and sometimes keyboardist for Babyshambles, Luca C has DJ’d alongside SebastiAn, Kissy Sell Out, Autokratz and many others. Any friend of Kitsuné is a friend of Twisted! Ortzroka are also making quite a name for themselves as heroes of the remix – having released remixes of Simian Mobile Disco, Peter, Bjorn & John and Bloc Party to great critical acclaim. Residents Guy (Fierce Panda) and Tim Fanucci (Standon Calling/Pukka Up) bring you their own brand of Twisted electro trash disco and underground indie schmindie.
The Last Days of Decadence is a brand new live music venue in the heart of Shoreditch. With all the style of the roaring twenties, the Last Days of Decadence redefines the image of the modern live music venue. With fellow promoters Gigwise and Adventures Close to Home amongst those to bag a spot in their calendar, it won’t be long before it’s crowned the new place to be in the east end.
